"Melissa is a great singer and a great person. Tons of soul and even more heart. It's only a matter of time before the whole world sees what a great talent she is." -- Kevin Fowler |

Melissa Sellers was born and raised on real country music. She grew up in the Houston, Texas area picking and singing with her mother and two brothers. When Melissa was ten,
her family moved to the Austin, Texas area. She soon began performing with the family band, singing songs of legends like Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, and Tammy Wynette.
Her traditional country roots led her to write her own songs and form the Melissa Seller Band in 1997. The band included musicians such as the Waddell brothers and Bob Brown. In 2000, she recorded the EP "Half Way THere," produced by Lelland and David Waddell. Also in 2000, guitarist Will Knack and pianist Jim Panek became regular fixtures in the band. In 2002, The Melissa Sellers Band recorded "Deep South Austin," their first full length CD, at Pedernales Recording Studio. Produced by the late Bob Brown, this recording includes Melissa's original music, as well as music from songwriters Ray Frushay, Billy Joe Shaver, Poodle Lynn (Melissa's mother), and Billy Wimberly (her brother). On this CD, Melissa recorded duets with Kevin Fowler and former band member and songwriter David Waddell. "Deep South Austin" is proof that traditional country music is alive and well in Texas. After some years of paying their dues in the honky-tonks, dance halls and bars, the Melissa Sellers Band has become the best kept secret in South Austin -- but not for long. She is fast making a name for herself, appearing on shows with Kevin Fowler, Billy Joe Shaver and Willie Nelson. Reviews --> |
